Yoga Instructor – Branding Photo Session

Branding Photo Session at ALightCollab Studios in Pflugerville, Texas

For Amber’s mini-branding photo session, we split her time between professional headshots and “action” shots showing her as a yoga teacher.

Our location was the newly opened ALightCollab Studio in Pflugerville, Texas.

Please check out some of my favorite images from her branding session below and contact me if you’d like to book your own photo session.

And if you’d like to take a yoga class with Amber, check out some of her upcoming classes here

1. What prompted you to have this photo session?

I wanted to have some professional photos for LinkedIn and Teams for my work as an editor as well as some new yoga photos for my side gig teaching yoga.

2. What advice would you give to others planning a similar photo session?

Definitely listen to Stephanie’s advice on colors to wear, etc. Possibly make a list of what you want to wear for each outfit so you don’t forget anything while you’re there. Try on everything in advance and pack it so it’s ready to go when you’re off to your photo shoot

3. Anything else you’d like to add?

You’re in good hands with Stephanie!

Two Hives Honey – Bee Farm Photos

Two Hives Honey – Bee Farm Photos

Honey Bee Hive Tour at Two Hives Honey Farm in Manor, Texas

I signed up for a Honey Bee Hive Tour at Two Hives Honey this month in Manor, Texas.

From their website:

Tour a working apiary at our honey ranch just a few miles east of Austin, TX! Our hive tours will let you learn about the world of honey bees in a way that few get to experience, through the hands-on exploration of an active, living beehive.

Your tour, led by a professional beekeeper, will begin with a brief lecture on the lives of bees, after which you’ll suit up in protective gear, light a bee smoker, and get up close and personal with more than 100,000 bees.

The first part of the tour is a 30-minute informational talk inside all about the life of bees, how they work together and how honey is made. It included different items that were passed around as part of the discussion – like the various honeycomb shown below.

The second part of the tour is gearing up and then visiting some of the hives on the property. You could volunteer to use the smoker or to handle the wooden frames from the hives full of bees.

Please enjoy some of my favorite images I took during the tour below.

I also recommend ordering the “honey tasting flight” to try while you’re out there. The Buckwheat honey was my personal favorite. They have a cute gift shop on the property for all your apiary-related needs.

Springdale Road – Portrait Session

Springdale Road – Portrait Session

Photo Session in East Austin along Springdale Road

I knew from a previous location scouting session that I loved the architecture and backgrounds on Springdale Road.

So for my 10th (!) year in a row photographing this sweet kid, this was a place we hadn’t had a session in before.

Please check out some of my favorite images from his portrait session below and contact me if you’d like to book your own photo session.

1. What prompted you to have this photo session?

A family member donates to an annual charity by including a photo of our son (their grandchild) in a custom photo book. We use that as motivation to schedule the shoot in the spring to meet their deadline, and we use the extra photos for our annual holiday card.

2. How did you choose your location for your session?

Stephanie and I usually collaborate on the locations, but this year the ones we suggested were either too pricey to reserve or just not available. We try to mix it up from year to year (urban to pastoral, etc.). Stephanie had recently done a shoot at Springdale Station and liked it as a location. Since we trust her completely, it was a quick “yes.”

3. What advice would you give to others planning a similar photo session?

Be flexible and treat it as a fun diversion. None of our family members likes being photographed, so we try to get in the right mindset: let’s cooperate and get it done! Then we’ll usually go out to eat afterward as a “reward.” But Stephanie always makes it easy. After so many years working together, she knows when to suggest more lipstick, a hair check, or a break!

4. Anything else you’d like to add?

Not only is Stephanie a talented photographer; she’s also very organized. She scouts locations in advance at the time of day you’ve requested, so she’s able to say it will or won’t work because of crowds, unexpected weather issues, etc. I really think this saves time and money and helps avoid meltdowns! We love Stephanie and always appreciate our beautiful photos. We drag our feet about scheduling every year, but when the holidays roll around, we’re so grateful that we already have our photos AND that we chose Stephanie.

1. What prompted you to have this photo session?

I really wanted my children to have a coming of age photograph of themselves. As I get older, I recognize what a remarkable and pivotal time in life they are experiencing, and I want them to have that captured.

2. How did you choose your location for your session?

It is a very diverse area with beautiful, classic, elements. It has age and character as the backdrop to the photographs. There are wide open places surrounded by beautiful architecture, but also small nooks with old and lovely ornamentation, and luscious landscaping.

3. What advice would you give to others planning a similar photo session?

Don’t stress out, you are all beautiful and Stephanie is delightful. It’s a fun experience!

4. Anything else you’d like to add?

I am grateful that my daughter got to have this experience – thank you Stephanie!!!! And, I can’t wait to see the photographs! I love them already!
