Austin Central Library – Senior & Family Photo Session

Austin Central Library – Senior & Family Photo Session

Exploring the Downtown Central Library

This Class of 2023 Senior Photo Session included a family add-on. So, we switched between individual photos, family pairings and the whole group as we explored the downtown Austin Central Library and surrounding Seaholm area.

My favorite spots we shot in include the Children’s Reading Porch, the two-story colorful Susan Scafati artwork in the windows, and the Library rooftop garden. If you’re interested in having your own portrait session at the Austin Central Library, there is a small location fee.

I also love the Power Picket, by artists Nader Tehrani and Dan Gallagher outside with all the colorful green, blue, orange and gray columns.

Please check out some of my favorite images from this portrait session below and contact me if you’d like to book your own photo session.

1. What prompted you to have this photo session? The need for senior photos and new family photos.

2. How did you choose your location for your session? Our family loves the library so the beautiful downtown Austin library location seemed like a perfect location.

3. What advice would you give to others planning a similar photo session? Be thinking of ways to make your kids laugh or smile. Otherwise, Stephanie provided so many tips and tricks that we felt very prepared.

4. Anything else you’d like to add? Stephanie did a great wrangling our family to do the photo shoot in a variety of different locations and fun photo positions. We had natural green-space backgrounds as well as urban. The whole experience was so much fun! I am really blessed that Stephanie captured this valuable time in my family’s lives.

How to get started in Stock Photography?

How to get started in Stock Photography?

Stock Photography for Beginners

  • Are you a photographer looking to get started in Stock Photography and don’t know where to begin?
  • Do you want a source of passive income that uses imagery you already have?
  • Can you spend a little time uploading, captioning and keywording your content?

If yes – here’s what you can do.

Start by doing an audit of your past photography content to see if you have images that fit the most popular Stock Image categories such as:

  • Nature and Landscapes
  • People at Work
  • Authentic Lifestyle
  • Holiday and Seasonal imagery
  • Food and Drink
  • Travel
  • Diverse families

You can also review: what are the stock photography trends of 2023?

Does your work match any of these categories?

If yes, gather all the images you think might sell.

Once you have a selection of hi-res quality images – make sure you have property and model releases for anything you want to sell as Royalty-Free (What is the different between Royalty-Free and Rights Managed stock images?)

Could you write a detailed caption and create keywords for each images? If so, then apply to be a contributor with these major stock suppliers.

1) GETTY IMAGES/iSTOCK

Apply at Getty/iStock

2) SHUTTERSTOCK

Apply at Shutterstock

3) ALAMY

Apply at Alamy

4) ADOBE STOCK

Apply at Adobe Stock

5) DREAMSTIME

Apply at Dreamstime

Each agency will give you detailed instructions on how to upload and caption your content.

More keywording tips.

Once you’ve uploaded your past content, next you can keep stock photo needs in mind when creating new content.

Will you be able to retire on your stock photography payouts? Unlikely.

But will you get some extra quarterly income out of images just sitting on your hard drive with a little upfront work? Very likely.

Please contact me below if you have any questions about getting started as a stock photography contributor.

Wild Oak Psychotherapy – What goes into a Branding Photo Session?

Wild Oak Psychotherapy – What goes into a Branding Photo Session?

Branding Photo Session for Wild Oak Psychotherapy

Do you wonder what goes into a Branding Photo Session?

If you’re thinking about booking a session for your own business, first let me walk you through the ten steps we did for Wild Oak Psychotherapy.

1)  You inquire and let me know you’re interested in working together

2) On the phone, I ask you questions from my Client Questionnaire such as:

– What are your goals for this photo shoot?

– Where will the content be used? (new website, social media, etc.?)

– Who is your ideal client?

3) Based on your feedback, I create a visual mood board for you to react to (with a brand name like Wild Oak – I had to make sure to get some tree imagery in there)

4) We meet in person to review your location. I’ll also take “placeholder photos” to document our ideas. Check out the gallery below to see what took this Teddy Bear’s place for the real shoot.

5) Based on your feedback from the mood board and our in-person meeting, I create a shot list that could include:

– An environmental portrait

– Interiors/exteriors of your business

– Behind the scenes images showing your process

– Detail shots showcasing your work

– Action shot of you with a client

6) Once we finalize your session date, you’ll get a list of all the different outfits you’ll need to wear, what props you should bring and any other details to make the session go smoothly

7) You prepare for your photo session by gathering all the outfits and supplies you’ll need.

8) We take lots of great photos together!

9) Two weeks after your session date, you receive all the images (in hi-res and web optimized form) in a password protected online gallery to start using for your branding content

10) You use your new content to showcase your work!

Check out some of the images from Wild Oak Psychotherapy’s branding session below:

1. What prompted you to have this Branding photo session? I am launching my own private therapy practice in March and wanted to have creative photos that captured me and what’s important to me about my therapeutic work. I wanted compassion, curiosity, and creativity to come across and I know Stephanie could make that happen!

2. What advice would you give to others planning a similar photo session? Do it! It is so worth it to have incredible images that reflect who you are and what you offer the world.
