Did you know that in 1865, General George Custer and his men camped under the sheltering live oaks at Seiders’ Springs? The Shoal Creek Conservatory has the whole history of this location if you’re curious.
History aside, this family was happy to just meet in a mostly people-free spot for family photos in the time of Covid. And those live oaks were the backdrop for some of the photos seen below.
It’s a yearly tradition to meet at Tanglewood Park for this Family’s Holiday photo session. And as with any photo session involving a toddler, we all followed little brother’s lead. Which meant taking frequent snack breaks and always being on the move to check out new parts of the park.

Because of Covid, I’ve had many more at-home sessions than any other year. And this fun family got to to hang out and play around in their front and backyard in South Austin for their holiday photos.

There’s a reason I always see at least five other photographers working at Bull Creek whenever I shoot there in the Fall. Between the water and the rocks and Fall colors, it’s a magical kind of place. Besides that, it also makes me say, “Oh – that’s my new favorite log!” when I find a new spot to let families hang out on.
