Meet Aaron, 6 months old: I’ll give you all a moment while you think about squooshing those perfect baby cheeks. I went and photographed him and his parents around the Mueller Park Lake last weekend.
So neither hot, humid weather, sudden rainstorms or birthday parties in first location choices stopped the smiles at this portrait session. What a lovely and happy family.

I think this is my favorite outtake. We tuckered the little guy out.

Can we talk about how stunningly cute this kid is? I mean, those eyes, that face! I went and photographed Oliver, 19 months old, and his parents, Nadyne and Darby, this past weekend.
Nadyne and I were pregnant at the same time, and Oliver is only a few weeks older than Max. It’s been fun comparing milestone after milestone. At their portrait session, Oliver had fun running around the yard, throwing rocks in the (empty) fish pond and riding his rocking moose.

I think this is my favorite outtake. Kid’s got spirit.

When your mom is a photographer, you get your photo taken a lot. But there are some perks — location scouting might mean a trip to a new park or playground. And you get to try out the new toys that will be used as future props.
Have you heard of Tattlys? When I saw these temporary tattoos, I knew I’d want to include them in some portrait sessions. I bought these for a future client’s birthday shoot, but I wanted to try some out first. Enter Max. He picked out the bear as his favorite in the menagerie batch by Amy Blay. And in between playing in the backyard last night, I got a few pics.
And inevitably, he wanted to take some photos as well. Here’s a portait of me he assisted on. Kid’s got a good eye.
I met Mia, Melissa and Matt at the park near Central Market for their portrait session. What a photogenic and alliterative bunch! Mia, 18 months old, had fun pointing out the ducks, singing songs and showing me her dance moves. She loved her stuffed giraffe and barely tolerated her hair barrette. By the end, she was ready for more fun at the playground – while her parents and I were wiped out.

Halloween came early! I spent Saturday morning with Carsyn, who’s mom, Heather, had picked out the softest and snuggliest pink elephant costume for her to wear. Doesn’t she look adorable? Carsyn was full of smiles, happy to go along with multiple locations around the house and multiple outfit changes. Well, there might have been a few tears when the costume first came on. But she rallied.
It was a great morning. Though with her super fast crawling skills, her mom and I both had to be quick on our feet to keep up with her.

I’ve known Ginny and Grady (the parents of these cute twins) for a long time. So it was a pleasure to hang out with them one breezy Sunday morning and follow Elliot and Levi as they played all over the house and backyard. These two had just started walking and didn’t want to be stopped and posed. But they loved being outside – so it was fun to follow where they wanted to explore.
The whole session (plus some candids from our play date the week previously) is viewable here.
