Where to take Senior Photos on the University of Texas Campus?

Hello, Fellow Longhorn: Congratulations on graduating from UT! Here are my Top 10 most popular spots on campus for Senior Photo Sessions.

They don’t call it Forty Acres for nothing. Since the University of Texas campus is so large, it’s good to be strategic when planning your College Senior Photo Sessions.

Here are my Top 10 favorite locations. Prioritize your favorite ones when planning your photo session on campus.

1. University of Texas Tower

Why It’s Great: It’s the most recognized symbol on campus. And there’s lots of variety possible through different angles and distances.  (FYI: It’s due to have construction starting in November 2024 and lasting for several years).

Tips: Afternoon sessions cast the best light on the tower. Keep in mind this popular spot can get very crowded on weekends close to graduation.

2. Littlefield Fountain

Why It’s Great: Elegant and classic, and just a short walk from the UT Tower, this fountain is a timeless favorite. The flower beds next to the fountain also make lovely backdrops.

Tips: Bring a bottle of champagne for a celebratory pop! And if you want to get in the fountain, have this be the last stop of your photo shoot. And pack a towel for afterwards 🙂

3. Mary Gearing Hall

Why It’s Great: This spot has great views of the Tower as well.

Tips: You can pose by the gate with the Tower in the background or perch on the fountain in the courtyard.

Why It’s Great: These green/blue doors add a pop of color and architectural charm.

Tips: You might have a long line to wait in for your turn at the doors. Nearby Sutton Hall also has a lovely blue door to use instead.

7. Moody Bridge, College of Communication

Why It’s Great: The bridge’s sleek and modern look is a contrast to some of the older architecture on campus.

University of Texas – College Friends Senior Photo Session

Fraternity Brothers’ College Senior Photo Session at the University of Texas

This group of six college friends wanted a photo session right before graduation at the University of Texas in Austin.

six college seniors in front of the tower at the university of texas at austin

We made sure to get plenty of individual shots as well as the whole group in front of the major landmarks on campus – the Tower and the Fountain.

If you’re also interested in having a College Senior Photo Session at the University of Texas, check out my essential tips below.

Tips for Senior Photo Sessions at the University of Texas:

  • Right before Graduation, Campus gets pretty full of other photo sessions, so try and plan early or choose off-times for your photos (or be okay with waiting for your turn in front of popular spots)
  • Iron your regalia
  • You can pose in your full cap and gown, part of your regalia, regular clothes or any combination of the above
  • If you have a particular spot on campus that means a lot to you (ex. where you took the majority of your classes), let your photographer know
  • If your family will be in town, we can add-on a mini-family photo session
  • Get ready to “Hook ‘Em Horns!”
