When your house looks this festive for the holidays, it makes perfect sense to have your family portrait session right in your own backyard.
If you also want a photo session at home, I may ask you to re-arrange some plants, move your cars or transport lawn furniture into the good light.
Then we can capture your family’s personality (dogs included).
And make sure Mom & Dad get at least one sweet photo of just them.
Happy Holidays!

1. How do you know Stephanie Friedman Photography?
I hired Stephanie in the past to shoot a birthday party. She set up a super fun photo booth and my guests absolutely loved their souvenir shots.
“Dolly Parton” in the musical-themed photo booth
2. What was your favorite part of your photo session?
Stephanie relaxes everyone in the group with her cheerful personality, and we loved the process as she spontaneously offered up ideas for poses and backgrounds.
3. What advice would you give to other families planning a photo session?
Don’t try to overthink wardrobe with something too stuffy. Be comfortable and you!
4. Anything else you’d like to add?
It’s a great pleasure to work with Stephanie. She’s reliable, genuine and has a great eye!

An in-home session doesn’t always mean staying indoors. For this family, we spent 95% of their shoot playing in and behind their backyard.
There were trees to climb, piggyback rides to be had and creeks to explore (including finding a tiny, tiny frog).
Favorite stuffed animals (with matching puppy dog eyes) are always welcome.
And I might ask you to practice your balance beam skills while your portrait is being taken.
This family had lots of giggles, snuggles and smiles as we enjoyed being outside.

1. How do you know Stephanie Friedman Photography?
I’m lucky enough to know Stephanie Friedman from Gullett Elementary. She took amazing photos of the kid’s during Field Day last Spring and that led me to her professional site. I love how Stephanie is able to capture the spirit and personality of the people she’s photographed so much. Knowing she was a neighbor and fellow Gullett Mom only helped making the decision to use her for our family photos easier.
2. What was your favorite part of your photo session?
I’m very self conscious, but Stephanie is so easy to be around and genuinely fun that I never felt self conscious. It just felt like my family was hanging out with a friend who happened to be taking pictures at the same time.
3. What advice would you give to other families planning a photo session?
Stephanie really guides you through the process. I’ve never had profession photos taken of the family and didn’t know what to expect and she made everything so incredibly easy. My advise is don’t over think it because Stephanie has taken care of that for you. Just enjoy yourself.
4. Anything else you’d like to add?
I’m going to have a very hard time waiting 2 weeks for my prints, but I KNOW they are going to be worth the wait. I am so excited!

I met up with this family at Lady Bird Lake for their first ever professional family photos. Cooler temps and winds didn’t stop the smiles and silliness.
We had fun exploring under and around the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge.

What was your favorite part of your photo session?
“Stephanie was so helpful throughout the entire process. This was our first ever family photo session and we needed a lot of guidance. Stephanie was patient and provided good suggestions while we stressed over finding the perfect location. She looked at our outfit choices and gave us helpful feedback. And, she made the photo shoot enjoyable! Even my picture reluctant, camera-avoiding children said immediately afterward, “That was fun! Can we do it again next year?!?”

I met up with this family at Tanglewood Park for their yearly holiday photo session. They were troopers to wear their winter best while Austin blessed us with upper 80 degree temps.
We even found some tiny yellow fall leaves to throw.
Thank you for all the big smiles, S. Family!

1. How do you know Stephanie Friedman Photography?
This is our third year working with Stephanie. Our kids attended the same preschool, so we’ve spent a lot of time chatting at birthday parties!
2. What was your favorite part of your photo session?
Watching the kids love on each other.
3. What advice would you give to other families planning a photo session?
Plan several outfit options. Texas weather is so fickle this time of year! We wanted a fall look for our holiday cards, but it was in the mid-80’s when we did our shoot. We ended up rushing to finish before the kids got too uncomfortable!
4. Anything else you’d like to add?
It’s hard to get a toddler to sit still for pictures. I love candid shots of those silly moments!

1. How do you know Stephanie Friedman Photography?
Stephanie is a mom at our boys’ school and a neighbor. She’s always a lot of fun to be around, so we knew she’d make the photo session enjoyable. We’ve seen her work from other families & love that she captures them having fun together!
2. What was your favorite part of your photo session?
The whole thing was easy. Stephanie is so organized! She is quick to share lots of ideas about locations, and she comes prepared – down to chapstick for my son’s chapped lips. She knew exactly where to go once we arrived, so things moved quickly. That’s important for two kids that would rather do a lot of things that pose and smile! Plus Stephanie had props to generate real laughs and natural smiles. You can’t ask for much more!
3. What advice would you give to other families planning a photo session?
Book today so you can capture your growing kids before they get too big! Stephanie is easy to work with and her photos are beautiful.
4. Anything else you’d like to add?
Thank you 🙂

Do you have active kids who won’t want to sit still for family photos? (Honestly: this is most kids). If so, you may want to consider Bull Creek for your photo session. We will take some standing and sitting shots – but there are also lots of fun places to explore and things to do there. And if the kids are happy, then the parents are happy and then the photographer is happy. 🙂
Top 10 Things to Do at Bull Creek with Kids
(during a family photo session)
Name as many Pokemon characters as you can in 1 minute (this is a game I play to get those sitting down shots)
2. Run ahead of your parents (which can also lead to running back to your parents until you tire of this game)
3. Throw stones in the water
4. Look for animals in the water
5. Look thoughtful while eating mango snacks (choice of snack may vary 😉 )
6. Use the remote controlled fart machine (another way to get those posed shots)
7. Climb rocks
8. Climb fences
9. Look for fossils in the rocks
10. Snuggle with mom or dad
So if this location sounds like a good fit, keep it in mind for your own family photo session. Bull Creek works well all year long.

1. How do you know Stephanie Friedman Photography?
I met Stephanie when our children were in pre-k together. During the classroom’s holiday parties, Stephanie set up a photo booth, and took amazing photos of my kids (being their rambunctious selves!) This summer, we spent so many days and evenings at the neighborhood pool together, and again, she snapped so many great photos of the kids splashing around. I am so excited to see how our family photos turn out.
2. What was your favorite part of your photo session?
We really enjoyed hanging out at the park together and watching the boys play. I also had a bit of fun picking out everyone’s outfits!
3. What advice would you give to other families planning a photo session?
Try and relax- our kids were not on their best behavior and didn’t listen very well, which stressed me and my husband out a bit. We should have had a few better bribes. In hindsight, I wish we had been a little more easy going. I am sure the kids fed a bit off our negative energy. I am guessing the best pictures will be when we let the kids be themselves.
4. Anything else you’d like to add?
October weather in Texas is so unpredictable! We really got lucky! Also, Stephanie is so sweet and creative. She has young kids herself, so really knows how to engage the littles, and has tons of patience!
