I have a few family photo sessions coming up at Champion Park on the Brushy Creek Trail in Cedar Park so we went exploring there once again. There was running and stick collecting and climbing (the usual). I had a hard time narrowing down what to share – so it’s a larger than usual lightbox of images. Let’s all go play in the light!
Katherine Fleischer Park in Wells Branch is home to the historical Gault Homestead. It is also surrounded by soccer fields, running trails and a playground.
The boys enjoyed exploring and peaking in all the homestead windows. And they really didn’t want to come out of that green playhouse.
Champion Park is between Brushy Creek Lake Park and Olson Meadows Park on the Brushy Creek Regional Trail in Cedar Park, Texas. We took the boys to scout it out – there were wildflowers to see, bridges to run over, and then we went back to the playground to climb on dinosaur bones and dig in the sand. It took a rain shower to send us away.
If it stays this green and lush, it’ll make a great setting for Fall Family Photo Sessions.
We took the boys to check out a spot on the Shoal Creek Trail that Ted usually runs by. It’s near the “Shoal Creek Gazebo” on the map. Many sticks were collected. Many stones were thrown in the creek. Trees and rocks were climbed. A very lovely morning was had by all.
You can live in Austin for over 20 years and still find spots in the city you’ve never been to. Now – I’ve visited the Camp Mabry track – but little did I know until another mom told me – that there’s also a pond to visit there. And as we were pulling up, we got to see some Boy Scouts packing up their tents to head out. The boys were hopeful to find some ducks to share their bread – but ended up eating most of the slices themselves 🙂
And if you go out next Saturday, it’s the Touch-a-Truck event!
Photos from three separate trips to Wild Basin are shown here. The boys love running the trails – though Miles prefers to be carried back up from the Waterfall Trail (hello, morning workout).
There are some gorgeous vistas and easy loops as well. It’s free to hike, and there’s parking available.
