If you take the Blue Trail at St. Edward’s Park – you can come across this idyllic scene as well. Miles was happy to throw rocks into Bull Creek as we stopped in our explorations.
As long as the water stays high, it would make a lovely background for family photos – especially if you want to wade in and don’t mind getting wet as well.
Updating with some Bluebonnet field/Trail pics as well:
And from a few weeks earlier…
We went to visit Balcones District Park – I was curious if their wildflower field was doing anything yet (answer: no). But we had the hiking trails to ourselves (except for a few dog walkers) – and the playground was empty.
I’m sure we’ll be back in a few weeks to keep an eye out for bluebonnets.

We took the boys to the trails at St. Edwards Park this week. I was curious what the recent rains had done. There was lots of debris and “obstacle courses” as Max said near the water. We came home with mud on our shoes, but now Max knows the definition of “Golden Hour,” so overall a success.

Miles and I went to the Brushy Creek Community Gardens to see how the flowers were fairing after the Fall rain. I have a family session booked there later this month – and was happy to see it in such good shape.
Between the windmill, the multiple koi ponds and fallen flower petals, Miles had fun running from spot to spot.

Took the family out to Mill Pond this morning to see how the trees were looking so far this Spring. The boys had fun running along the trail and checking out the ducks on the water. And I even got to be in a few photos thanks to Ted.

With Springtime and sessions starting back up again this year, I wanted to see how their gardens looked in March/April. Given our Texas growing season (and the cold winter we’ve had) – I’ve learned that plants that were taller than my clients last Fall have been cut back or replaced. Now the garden is full of blooming bulbs – but most plants are only knee-high so far. Nevertheless, still some fun, photogenic spots to explore. I especially like their wooden bridge and arbor way mostly covered with yellow blossoms. And the bees sure were happy with all the Spring blooms that were there. The hyacinth were just dreamy. Just a much more open space than last time I was there photographing.
