My in-laws come to visit every January through March and rent a place in Northwest Hills. They were the ones who told me about all the sculptures and artwork they would see on their daily walks. So when I drove down Wood Hollow Dr. and saw this gigantic pink metal sculpture, I knew it would make a great backdrop for a Senior Portrait Session.
I knew the best way to get other people excited about the possibilities of these backdrops was to show what a portrait session here would look like. So I contacted my old neighbor (who’s currently a high school junior) and asked her to help me location scout. She brought her best friend, and we had fun exploring the murals and artwork on that street.

This Class of 2021 McCallum Senior chose the Seaholm/Butterfly Bridge area of Austin for her Senior Portrait Session. She’ll be heading to college in Oregon later this year, so we wanted to capture some iconic Austin locations before she leaves.

Austin Senior Photo Session at Bull Creek District Park
For this McCallum Class of 2021 Senior, we choose Bull Creek for his portrait session location. It was a mix of hiking, guitar playing, and wading in the water.

50th Birthday Party | Extended Family Photo Session The last time I photographed this family, we were at the Murals on Justin Lane. This year, they had extended family members visiting Austin for a special milestone birthday party in December. So, they decided to...
Here are my Top Five Tips to have a successful Senior Portrait Session at the University of Texas campus:
Try and pick a weeknight for your session date. Some popular spots (like the Architecture Library doors) get long lines this time of year for photos
Shake your champagne really well before opening it (and bring an extra bottle just in case)
Pack a towel for post-champagne and post-fountain dips (and leave the dip in the Littlefield Fountain for your last shot of the night)
Bring an extra pair of comfortable shoes for walking between spots
Make sure you have your all your graduation regalia pressed and ready to go (cap, gown, tassel, etc.)
This graduate had scouted out all the spots she wanted for her session. It made it so easy to go from place to place to make sure we got all the locations she wanted. Please enjoy some of my favorite pictures from her Senior portrait session below.
This Class of 2021 McCallum Senior enjoys rock climbing, so Gus Fruh was a natural pick for his location. I’d never been to this part of the Greenbelt before, but it was mostly empty early on a Sunday morning.

This Class of 2021 McCallum Senior picked the Seaholm area for her portrait session. One of my favorite parts was seeing other Senior photo shoots going on at the same time and having the girls shout to each other across the Butterfly Bridge: “You look amazing!”
